“Skies through windows” original collage and photography piece showcased in Gallery 44’s Outreach Exhibition (2020). “Like many others who lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic, I found myself immediately living in a state of complete uncertainty. While in quarantine, I began to find solace in observing elements of my life that I associated with comfort and gratitude; things that I was certain of. Simple, daily parts of life that are often taken for granted. I took this image while walking through a heavily industrial area, the symmetry of the perfect square windows was unequivocal, however what lay within the boarders was undetermined. Through these distorted windows I envisioned an image of volatile comfort, represented by the sky. Ever changing, yet consistently present in daily life. I imagine post pandemic life to challenge us with new precautions, however I also see us finding gratitude in present simplicities. Although the future remains uncertain, we must embrace change with both grace and vigilance in order to create a better world for ourselves.”
